Panama’s First Golf Course

The Summit Golf Course first opened in the 1930s when it served as a field for workers of the Panama Canal and residents of U.S. military bases. Its location in Camino de Cruces National Park is where the Spanish would transport gold during colonial times.

It wasn’t until 1850 that the Camino de Cruces was no longer used for transit with the introduction of the Panama Canal Railroad Company. By 1999, the abandoned gem was discovered and came to be known as the Summit Golf Club.

Summit Golf Course was designed by world-renowned American golf course architect, Jeffrey Myers. The current course spans 6,626 yards and overlooks the famous Culebra Cut of the Panama Canal.
